Critical Water Situation in Cedar Rapids

Tools

By Becky Ogann

CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids is experiencing a water shortage. Officials are asking citizens to only use water for drinking.

Do not run a dishwasher, do not wash clothes, do not wash cars or water plants, do not flush toilets after each use, do not use sprinkler systems or water toys.

Based on current usage, Cedar Rapids will be out of water in 3-4 days. That includes water used to fight fires.

Officials are checking on wells now that the water is receding. Currently the city is operating on only one well, 25% capacity.

Elimination of services, loss of pressure and boil orders are all possible.

Please please conserve water in Cedar Rapids.
