CEDAR RAPIDS - As a result of the major flooding affecting the Cedar Rapids area, the Linn County Jail was evacuated on Thursday, June 12, 2008. All inmates were moved safely and successfully to other area correctional facilities, including the Oakdale Medical Classification Center, the Anamosa State Penitentiary, the Mitchellville Women's Correctional Center, and the Washington County Jail. Information on the relocation of specific inmates can be found by calling 319-377-9022.
The flood has also required the evacuation of the Sheriff's Office facility. Communications and Patrol functions have been temporarily relocated to the Marion Police Department. All other non-essential law enforecement functions have been temporarily suspended until we are able to locate additional temporary facilities.
Additional information regarding Sheriff's Office operations and relocation will be provided as it becomes available.
