Mobile Disaster Recovery Center Coming To Butler County

DES MOINES -- A Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) will be making four stops in Butler County to offer assistance to residents affected by the severe storms and flooding in the region, the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today. Recovery specialists will be available to answer questions residents may have about the disaster aid process.
The MDRC will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations:
June 14-15 – Clarksville - Fire Station, 103 S. Elizabeth St, Clarksville, IA 50619 June 17-18 – Shell Rock – Boyd Community Bldg., 303 S. Cherry, Shell Rock, IA 50670 June 19-20 – Dumont – Vacant lot adjacent to the Emergency Bldg., 630 First St. Dumont, IA 60625 June 21-22 – Greene – Greene School, 201 N. Fifth St. Greene, IA 50636 Disaster recovery centers are a one-stop shop for affected individuals to register for assistance and learn more about the disaster aid process. Individuals can meet one-on-one with disaster recovery specialists to check on the status of their application, learn about other types of aid that may be available, and receive information about how to avoid future disaster losses when repairing or rebuilding. Customer service representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration will be on hand to answer questions and help renters, homeowners, businesses of any size, and private non-profit organizations fill out loan applications.
Iowans in declared counties are encouraged to register before visiting a DRC. To register, individuals can call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for individuals with speech or hearing impairment between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. seven days a week. Online registration is also available anytime at www.fema.gov.
FEMA coordinates the federal government’s role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.

SBA is the federal government’s primary source of money for the long-term rebuilding of disaster-damaged private property. SBA helps homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes, and private non-profit organizations fund repairs or rebuilding efforts, and cover the cost of replacing lost or disaster-damaged personal property. These disaster loans cover uninsured and uncompensated losses and do not duplicate benefits of other agencies or organizations.
