Iowa City Man Tells Police He Used Drugs for Compost

Tools

IOWA CITY - An interesting excuse from an Iowa City man busted with pot.

Police caught Matthew Furnish, 30, early Saturday morning with what officers described as several bags of marijuana -- some gallon sized and some larger.

Furnish told police he knew about the drugs but claimed he used it for compost in his garden.

Officers arrested him and charged him with possession with intent to distribute. Furnish could now face up to five years in prison and a fine of $7,500.
