IOWA CITY - Two former Hawkeye football players could face prison time for their alleged role in a sexual assault.
Police wrapped up their investigation and waited for the victim to leave Iowa City. Then the warrants for arrest came.
Former football players Cedric Everson and Abe Satterfield are expected to turn themselves in to the Johnson County Sheriff. Each faces second degree sexual abuse charges. Satterfield also faces a third degree sexual abuse charge.
The two men allegedly assaulted a girl in her dorm room at Hillcrest. Last October DCI and campus police investigated the residence hall.
Everson and Satterfield were kicked off the team last year. They have since transferred to different schools. But this is still a black mark on the Iowa program.
If either man is eventually found guilty, the second degree sexual abuse charges carry a mandatory 25-year prison term. The third degree charge could add another 10 years.
