Donate Money:People can make out checks to the American Red Cross Hawkeye Chapter (319.234.6832) or the Salvation Army (1.800.SAL.ARMY). And those can be dropped off at Fidelity Bank and Trust, Community Bank of Oelwein, Regions Bank or Veridian Credit Union in Oelwein, Lincoln Savings Bank in Allison, First State Bank in Conrad, Iowa State Bank in Parkersburg, Security State Bank in Shell Rock. Please mark "tornado relief" on your check.
You can also donate money directly to the Aplington-Parkersburg School Tornado Fund. The money goes to support students, teacher, and staff. Just send a check to:

- Large Black Trash Bags
- Mattresses (All Sizes)
- Blankets and Comforters (Queen Size)
- Dish Soap
- Triple and Double-A Batteries
- Plastic Baggies (like sandwich bags)
- Non-perishable food items (like canned items)

Click for NE Iowa LocationsGoodwill is collecting clothes, household items, shovels, rakes, kitchenware, cleaning supplies, new paper towels, toilet paper, personal items, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, razors, shampoo etc.
Toys and books are being collected at the Sleep Inn and Suites in North Liberty, the Main Stay Suites in Cedar Rapids and the Sleep Inn and Suites in Mount Vernon. They're looking for everything from rattles and teething toys for babies to books and board games for older children.
Mainstay Suites in Cedar Rapids is taking kids toys and pet supplies. They will be taking up the goods on Saturday, June 7th. 5145 Rockwell Drive NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, (319) 363-7829.
Donate Time:Iowans interested in volunteering with the clean up at Parkersburg and New Hartford are asked to call the Iowa Concern Hotline at 1-800-447-1985. At the current time there are enough volunteers for the weekend. When additional help is needed, volunteers will be contacted.
Iowans who want to help should call the hotline before going up to Parkersburg. Volunteers that arrive without being requested can become another challenge for responders who are already taxed with other tasks.
Volunteers need to wear gloves, pants and protective shoes. Boots are preferred because of all the nails. Volunteers also need to be over the age of 14 because of the type of work required.
On the Scene:An emergency distribution site has been established at Bethel Lutheran Church, 701 3rd Avenue, in Parkersburg. The church can be reached at 319-346-2028. Two temporary collection centers have been set up in Grundy Center at the Grundy National Bank at 603 7th St. and 529 G Avenue.
The Parkersburg Middle School Shelter is collecting toiletries, mattresses and of course clothes. If you're planning to donate clothes, they need more of the larger sizes that are in new or like new condition.
Events:KCRG-TV9 is putting on a benefit concert with Cumulus Broadcasting and local bands Lockren and Wildcard. It will be Sunday, June 1st, at the Bremer County Fairgrounds in Waverly. Cost is $5 a person or $15 per family. And 100% of the money will go to relief efforts.

UNI will host a benefit concert featuring The Blue Band, Checker and the Bluetones, Jason Rich and the Salsa Band on Tuesday, June 3rd beginning at 7 p.m. at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15 per person. Free tickets will be given to anyone who has been impacted by the tornado.
