Former Daycare Provider Pleads Guilty to Child Endangerment

By Bree'Ann Hildreth

AMES (AP) - A day care provider in Ames faces sentencing after admitting she slammed a 20-month old child onto the floor.

The actions of Amy Mollhoff caused the child - who has since recovered - to hit its head against a wall. Mollhoff, 29, ran a daycare practice when she was arrested in June 2007 in the incident.

At the time she had called for medical assistance for an unresponsive 20-month-old female infant. The child was taken to the emergency room at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames and then sent by Life Flight to Iowa City it was diagnosed with a skull fracture.

Mollhoff has pleaded guilty to child endangerment causing serious injury.

She will face sentencing next week.
