CARTER LAKE (AP) - Carter Lake's volunteer fire chief has resigned after he was arrested for stealing a plasma screen TV from an Omaha, Neb., hospital.

Dough Saathoff is accused of taking the 42-inch television from Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, where he worked as a security guard.

Carter Lake officials asked Saathoff to resign after they learned of his arrest on Monday.

Councilman Tim Parker says the City Council could appoint an interim fire chief until the department names a new chief.

Police say Saathoff was working as a security guard at the hospital on May 7 when a co-worker saw him with the TV and reported him to hospital officials.
