DES MOINES (AP) - Interstate Power and Light says emissions from its coal-fired power plant in northeast Iowa will be cut after it installs $85 million worth of equipment.

The company plans to install a catalytic reduction system and low nitrogen oxide burners at the plant near the Mississippi River town of Lansing.

The company says the measures are expected to remove more than 90 percent, or more than 3,700 tons, of nitrogen oxide emissions.

The work will begin this summer.
