WATERLOO - Work will begin Monday, May 19, to replace barrier rail along U.S. 20 and I-380 in Black Hawk County as part of the continued road construction work, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

The existing concrete barrier will be replaced along the sides of the I-380 southbound bridge over U.S. 20.

During the evenings of May 19, 20 and 21, both U.S. 20 east- and westbound lanes in this location will be restricted to one lane when work is taking place overhead. Otherwise, all lanes of U.S. 20 will be open.

The Iowa DOT asks motorists to drive with caution and obey posted signs in the construction area. As in all construction zones, drivers should stay alert, watch their speed, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear their seat belts.
