Dubuque Company Cuts 90 Jobs

By Becky Ogann

DUBUQUE - Ninety people in Dubuque are out of work after managers at Eagle Window and Door cut their jobs.

As workers arriving at the plant Wednesday morning were notified of the plant-wide cuts for the first time.

The cuts were based on seniority and are effective immediately.

CEO Dave Beeken says the struggling housing market forced the manufacturer to reduce its workforce.

Beeken says Eagle Window and Door has not cut this many jobs in at least 15 years.

Aparently they didn't get rid of all the people that mess around on the computer instead of working. Get back to work, and maybe you will keep your job!

If employees are typically required to give two weeks notice, why then are the employers also not expected to do the same? I just think it's common courtesy to keep your employees up to date on current events with the company.

This story is wrong, The workers arrived and worked all day then were told they no longer had a job. 1st shift workers were let go after a full days work. How Rude!!!!!!!!

I am also employed there. Hopefully it will be the last cut. It is sad to see fellow workers with little notice and no job. It just tells me you never know what will happen, and with the economy like it is and if the market in this field doesn't improve, could hundreds more lose their jobs?

Its sad, but true, the market is not well in this field...or any to be honest. This will hopefully be the first and last cut of jobs at Eagle. I am employed there and felt this coming for months.
