Cedar Rapids Murder Suspect says he's Not Guilty

By Becky Ogann

CEDAR RAPIDS - The suspect in a Cedar Rapids murder says he's not guilty.

Jacovan Bush faces a first-degree murder charge for the death of Thomas Horvath.

Investigators say the Fairfax man shot and killed Horvath outside the Raintree Apartments in southwest Cedar Rapids last month.

Bush entered the not guilty plea at his arraignment Thursday morning. A conviction would put him in prison for life with no parole.

If i were this guy i would pled not guilty too. at this point he has nothing left to lose by going to court. I can also see where this guys family is comeing from not wanting to think that he could have done something like this but look at his prev charges from DEC of 2007: 1st degree burglary, 2nd degree robbery and 1st degree theft. come on anyone should have seen this comeing. i wish i had tom back more then anything but i bet this jake kid wishes the same thing for whatever reason

Do you really think that he would willingly admit to this, sealing his fate? He's got a shot at freedom if he pleads not guilty. Too bad we didn't have the death penalty in Iowa!

I was upset with this kid, but sometimes I jump to conclusions. I want to say I'm sorry to Jocovan for accusing him. I would like to have him talk though. If he knows who did it, just tell the police and let his life go on. But, if he did to it...then rot in hell.

If he says he's not guilty yet he was there and he's the only one that has been arrested, why isn't he talking? Why wouldn't he say who really did it then? He knows he did it and he needs to own up to his consequences. Rest in peace, Thomas<3
