CEDAR RAPIDS - Do you know someone whose home deserves an Extreme Makeover? If so, the producers of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition want to hear from you!

Ty Pennington and his crew have been all across the map and they are ready to drive that famous bus to Iowa.

What does it take to be picked for an Extreme Makeover?
We are in search of real heroes - people that have amazing strength and who have put their own needs aside to help someone else. In addition to heroics, the producers are looking for families whose homes are in dire need of help. We don’t want to tear down a nice looking house. We want to see houses that look like they might fall down on their own!

To be eligible: A family must own their own single family home and be able to show producers how a makeover will make a huge difference in their lives.

Interested families should: e-mail a short description of their family story to – iowacasting@gmail.com

Nominations must include:
1. The names and ages of each member of the household
2. A description of the major challenges within the home.
3. Explanation of why this family is deserving, heroic, or a positive role model in their community.
4. Photos of the family and a photo of the home
5. Don’t forget to include a contact phone number.

The deadline: for nominations is July 2nd, 2008. Don’t Delay!

Something I've always wondered, do the families that get these homes have to pay taxes on the value of the homes they are getting? Something to think about....

OK, who cares if the story "makes it sound as if this will be the first time......" The point of the story is that they would like nominations of deserving families!

what ever happened when they were here in Tama last time? It would be nice to see a follow up show.

I think the sentence "Ty Pennington and his crew have been all across the map and they are ready to drive that famous bus to Iowa," makes it sound like they have never been to Iowa before. Maybe it should read, "...drive that famous bus back to Iowa."

Yes they did but I don't see anything that makes it sound like the first time coming to Iowa.

Bob and Linda Herring from Tiffin have got to be the most giving people that I know. They have opened their home to more than 400 foster children, raised 5 biological children and adopted 3. One of which is severly handicaped, many daily challenges come with taking care of Dani. She is now 17 but is unable to walk, eat or even talk. Bathing her is an incredible back breaking, cramped and nearly impossible task in the very small bathroom, with never a complaint from any. 319-828-3006

The article makes it sound as if this will be the first time Extreme Makeover Home Edition has been in Iowa. Didn't they come to a town somewhere close to Cedar Falls two years ago?
