How is this for perspective? I lost a loved one because of some one elses illegal high speed situation. It could have very well been an innocent child crossing the street. Quit with the "don't judge" already. He is paying the ultimate price for his own actions. Thankfully, no one else (like the one I lost) is. You have your loved one Lynette. I don't. There is your perspective. And then there is mine. I will judge. As will everyone else. I will still pray for him, though. You aren't the only one

How about the pespective of some one who lost a loved one due to some one else's illegal high speed chase? It could have been an 8 yr old child just crossing the street, being hit by this vehicle. That is why sympathy is lacking for Mr. Hook. I don't think anyone is wishing ill will on him, but it is his own actions that caused this to happen. My loved one is not coming back home. And innocent.

Okay, I reread the article on line from the gazette dated 4/25 and the last line stated "the registered owner of the pickup, julie armstrong, was charged with permitting an unauthorized person to drive it." Could be incorrect info on the gazette's part and if so, i encourage julie to contact them for a published apology.

There was an article in the gazzette and I am almost sure it said that the truck was registered to Julie. But I could have read it wrong or they could have published incorrect information which they sometimes do.

The weird thing is that the truck Jeff hit with his motorcycle (the truck that ran) is registered to Jeff's wife Julie. That came out on the news the other night. I would put 2 and 2 together and say that they all know each other. The news said the truck ran because he was driving with no liscense and insurance.

You have to judge a person. Everyone does it. Would you entrust your child to a stranger because "you shouldn't judge people"? Why do people take things out of context when it is convenient? Every single person that wrote don't judge is just as judgemental as the next. Like the book says-"By their fruits you shall know them".That is how you "judge" whether or not a person is worthy of trust and respect. Let's hope he makes out okay here.Just send prayers for him and his family, okay?

There were very few comments on that article. Does our society have nothing better to do then come back to this article? I'm sure everyone involved wishes things were different. Good luck Jeff

If you dont like them- dont read them. Posting threats is childish - We are not in high school!

It doesn't matter if a police officer knows who the offender is while in pursuit. It would be like having an officer stop at your house one day and saying.. "I seen you speeding earlier.. I came to give you a ticket." Unless it's one of those speed capturing cameras they need proof of an offense. It is very unfortunate that things turned out the way they did. I do hope things turn out for the better.

In some counties it is illegal to pursue ANYTHING in residential areas, not just bikes. It is not the same here. The police have to take into count the time, area, and speed. If it is during peak hours, they cannot pursue. Same if it is near a school during school hours. I guess the police must have taken all of these into count and determined it was ok to pursue.

If it were illigal to persue bikes at high speed then all anyone who wanted to commit a crime would have to do is take off on a bike after the crime is done. The police have policies in place on when and where they can persue someone.
