IOWA CITY- It's a snag in plans for the first ever concert and spring football kickoff event at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.
Organizers of the "Gridiron Bash" have postponed it indefinitely. That means the 4 thousand-some tickets sold to see Kelly Clarkson perform Apirl 18th at Kinnick Stadium will be refunded.
Rick Klatt--associate athletics director for external affairs--said there is gray area when it comes to NCAA rules for athlete participation.
Klatt says the University of Iowa--to date--had no plans for the Gridiron Bash that involved student athletes.
The organizer of the event is expected to make a national announcement on Monday.
Klatt said other schools were beginning to engage current student athletes in promotion of the bash, and that the promoter made the decision to pull the event before eligibility was compromised for any player.
The event was set to be held simultaneously on 15-20 top Division I campuses nationwide. No word on if or when the event will be rescheduled.
