Culver Touts Wind Energy

By Cassie Huisman

ESTHERVILLE (AP) - Governor Culver is touting Iowa's wind
energy efforts during a trip to northwestern Iowa.
Culver says in the past year Iowa has increased generation of
electricity produced from renewable sources by nearly 10 percent.
He says Iowa is the fourth highest producer of wind energy in
the country. And, he says the state is home to five wind generation
manufacturers who have recently decided to locate or expand in
Iowa.
Culver was speaking today to wind energy companies, utilities,
educators and government representatives during the Iowa Wind
Energy Association Conference in Estherville.

Coal's the worst idea a man can suggest. It pollutes, contributes to the skyrocketing costs in medical bills (which I think coal supporters and smokers should solely be paying for.). Junk food's more affordable, but does that make it better for us? Eventually we have to pay an expensive price for it. Same with those who deceive the public into believing there's "clean" coal(if it pollutes, it's not clean). It "seems" affordable but they refuse to mention all the hidden costs that add up.

Wind is a supplemental source of Energy; it can do a lot, but it can't do it all.

For the cost of it, what good is it in the summer when the wind don't blow for days. What will we use for back up when the demand for electricity is high.
