DUBUQUE (AP) - A Dubuque County jury has awarded $1.14 million to a Dyersville woman, who sued her cousin after an accident in 2004.

Lindsay M. Deutmeyer filed the lawsuit against her second-cousin, Mitchell A. Deutmeyer, of Dyersville, claiming he was negligent in the crash in which the SUV he was driving rolled over on Iowa Highway 136 near Dyervsille.

Lindsay Deutmeyer, who was a passenger, suffered numerous injuries after she was thrown from the vehicle.

Her attorneys argued that she is still unable to move 23 percent of her body.

Attorneys for Mitchell Deutmeyer argued that the accident happened when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer.

The judgment was announced on Friday.
