IOWA CITY (AP) - University of Iowa students are filling up dozens of classes on sex.

The university has 35 courses with the word ``sex'' in the title. Professor Renee Goethe says if the word is in the class title, students tend to sign up.

The classes explore health and philosophy of sex and sexuality. There are also classes at Iowa State and University of Northern Iowa that explore similar issues.

But Representative Mike May, a Republican from Spirit Lake, says he wonders about public universities putting so much money into such classes instead of more essential courses.

Mike Hartwig of Marriage Matters of Iowa says he's got no problem with the universities teaching the courses -- as long as they are not teaching on the techniques of sex.
