Iowa Soldier's Funeral on Wednesday in Kingsley

KINGSLEY (AP) - The funeral for an Iowa soldier killed in Iraq earlier this month will be held on Wednesday in his hometown of Kingsley.

Army Specialist Chad Groepper, 21, died during combat on Feb. 17. The military says he died as a result of wounds from small-arms fire in the Diyala province northeast of Baghdad.

Groepper was assigned to 2nd Battalion 23rd Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division of Fort Lewis, Wash.

Groepper enlisted in the Army after graduating in 2004 from Kingsley-Pierson High School. He leaves behind his wife and 4-month-old daughter.

His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. at Kingsley-Pierson High School.
