CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) - She isn't Miss America, but Miss Iowa can still take some solace in a strong finish.

Diana Reed cracked the top 10 at the competition in Las Vegas. She was knocked out just as she prepared to perform her talent -- baton twirling -- on national television.

Reed is a former University of Iowa golden girl and Norwalk native. She was crowned Miss Iowa on June 9th. Before she was ushered off stage, the pageant's host, Entertainment Tonight co-anchor Mark Steines, told Reed he'd heard her routine had brought down the house during preliminary competition.

Reed says no matter the outcome, she was happy to have participated. She says no one is a loser in such competitions and that she met a lot of amazing women and had a great time.
