CEDAR RAPIDS - The owners of the Crowne Plaza Hotel say they want people to go "wow" when they walk in the lobby.

They now have drawings of the proposed upgrades that will happen in the upcoming months.

Last year when Atlanta-based Kronos Hotels bought the property, they agreed to make several renovations.

Saturday, Senior Vice President for Kronos Hotels, Tim McDonnell told TV9 they are getting closer to renovations that everybody can see.

Kronos Hotels declined to talk about the work on camera, they also refused to show us preparation work they say they are doing right now.

The hotel company did however invite us to come back in a few weeks to see workers tearing down walls and making progress.

Attorney Michael Weinstock represents Kronos Hotels and is also based in Atlanta. Weinstock said over the phone that they have made hundreds of thousands of dollars in purchase orders for the renovations.

McDonnell said they will be using very bold colors, and described the finished product as modern and very new.

McDonnell said he couldn't comment on any possible renovation work on the hotel's indoor pool.

The city said, under the sale agreement, all the renovation work needed to be done in a year. Cedar Rapids City Manager Jim Prosser has said the new owners of the hotel have had the property nearly nine months.

McDonnell said they hope to be done in time. When asked why it seems there has been a delay on getting the work done, McDonnell replied, "There were to many reasons to say."
