IOWA CITY (AP) - University of Iowa officials are sending out a security alert of their own to engineering students.

A list containing personal information was put in the wrong place on a file server and ended up on the internet.

The error was discovered earlier this month. University technology staff say there is little risk the information was or will be misused.

They are advising students to place fraud alerts on credit reports.
