Accident Closes I-380 Northbound in Downtown Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS - A multiple vehicle accident on I-380 in downtown Cedar Rapids caused traffic delays Friday night and sent two people to the hospital with injuries.

The accident happened around 5:51 p.m. on I-380 northbound near 7th Street NE.

Officials shut down the northbound lane for more than an hour and had to detour motorists at the Wilson Ave. exit.

Cedar Rapids Police say a southbound pickup truck jumped a concrete barrier, hitting a northbound SUV head on. It all happened near the 3rd St. SW ramp.

Authorities have not released names or said how serious the injuries are. The accident is still under investigation.
