WATERLOO - A Waterloo man has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder.

27 year old Dewayne Craft is accused of strangling and beating to death his 26 year old girlfriend Shayla Todd. He submitted a written plea in court on Thursday.

The two lived in the same apartment where police found Todd's body on September 2nd.

An autopsy showed she died of strangulation and blunt force trauma.

No trial date has been set for the murder case yet, but Craft also faces trial for domestic assault charges against Todd for an incident in July.

That trial is set for January 8th. Todd and Craft have two children together.
