COUNCIL BLUFFS (AP) - Google is moving ahead with plans for its new data center in Council Bluffs.

The Web giant is recruiting and hiring workers, but company officials remain tightlipped about details. Spokesman Ken Patchett says Council Bluffs is poised to become a major part of Google's network because it's in the ``hub of America.''

Google announced the data center in June. It's scheduled to be completed in 2009.

Google is also considering uses for some other land near the site and has bought 1,000 acres south of Council Bluffs.

Patchett says Google could bring in research and development, begin its wireless phone service, or add to the data center, which is projected to employ 200 people.
