IOWA CITY - This was the last day of classes before the university's Thanksgiving break. Around campus, students are taking a very cautious approach to an alleged sexual assault. Police have questioned three Hawkeye football players in the case.
Saturday is the last home football game of the season. People are hyped up, and vendors are already setting up shop.
Earlier this week investigators combed a second floor room at the Hillcrest dorms. Three University of Iowa football players were questioned. And Thursday a judge sealed a warrant coming from that investigation. No one has been arrested or charged, and both students and Hawkeye fans are waiting to hear more.
"To my knowledge, nothing's been proven yet, so you're always innocent until proven guilty I guess. You always got to back your players," Dan Christensen, Hawkeye supporter.
"It's a lot better to have them work it out like they should and release the details and then the public can judge how they feel fit," said Nate Mueller, UI student.
Just a few hours ago the president's office at the university told me they do plan to eventually release more information on the case, but they're not ready to say when that will happen, adding they want to balance providing comfort and due process.
