WEST DES MOINES (AP) - Expansion plans are in the works
for Hy-Vee.
The West Des Moines-based grocery store chain plans to build a
store in Madison, Wisconsin, on the site of an abandoned Kmart.
Officials say work will start once the city gives the OK.
Hy-Vee has not expanded to a new state since 1988 when it built
a store in Kansas.
Hy-Vee, which is among the top 15 grocery store chains in the
U.S., has about 200 grocery stores and 26 drugs stores in seven
states -- Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and
South Dakota.
