Waterloo Man Accused of December Murder
WATERLOO, Iowa – A Waterloo man has been charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly shot a man in Waterloo last December.
Authorities responded to a report of a shooting around 2:39 a.m. on December 22, 2012 at 343 Albany Street. 27-year-old Anthony Gardner, of Des Moines, was found fatally shot at the residence. Witnesses told police they saw Orlando D. Moore Jr., 26, of 343 Albany Street arguing with Gardner before he was shot. Moore Jr. was also seen leaving the area in a vehicle the morning of the shooting, officials said. Police pulled over the vehicle and arrested Moore Jr. after discovering he was violating probation, and has been in the Black Hawk County Jail since.
Captain Tim Pillack said Gardner was shot in the chest with a handgun, and that Gardner and Moore were acquaintances.
