DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — A Dubuque man has been given up to 20 years in prison for a failed bank robbery.
The Dubuque Telegraph Herald says 25-year-old Marlon Telesford was sentenced on Monday. Telesford had pleaded guilty to four felonies after prosecutors dropped a charge of first-degree robbery, which carries a maximum of 25 years.
Prosecutors say Telesford used a handgun to intimidate an employee at a Fidelity Bank branch in Dubuque on June 11. Telesford fled without carrying through on the robbery and later led police on a chase before being caught.
A court affidavit says Telesford said as he was arrested that all he was trying to do was feed his family.
