Iowa City Fire Chief Candidates Named

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Iowa City has released the names of five finalists for the fire chief job, and three of them are already with the city's Fire Department.

The public will get a chance to meet the candidates in a meet and greet that starts at 5:30 p.m. July 11 at the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center, 28 S. Linn St.

Andy Rocca retired this spring after 17 years as Iowa City's fire chief.

The candidates, according to a news release, are:

John Grier, battalion chief/fire marshal, Iowa City Fire Department

Greg Main, district chief, Evansville, Ind., Fire Department

Eric Nurnberg, captain, Iowa City Fire Department

Brian Platz, battalion chief, Iowa City Fire Department

John-Paul Schilling, chief, Cedar Falls Fire Department
