Illinois Fugitive Caught in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Cedar Rapids police have arrested a man wanted for murder in Illinois.

According to Linn County Court documents released Tuesday, Lamar C. Wilson, 19, was charged with first-degree murder in Illinois related to a homicide in Homewood last week.

The documents said Wilson was found in Cedar Rapids upon receipt of a warrant and instructions from the Homewood Police Department. No specific details about where the warrant was served were immediately available.

An official with the Homewood police department said Wilson's arrest was connected with a fatal shooting that occurred in Homewood on June 18, when local police responded to a report of a man shot in the 1100 block of 187th Street in Homewood.

The victim, 19-year-old Henry Kormoi, later died of those injuries. Police said they believed Kormoi knew his attacker following the incident.
