Community Dedicates Bench to Slain East Dubuque Teen

EAST DUBUQUE, IL - Students and teachers remembered Chyenne Kircher Tuesday. Kircher is a East Dubuque teen who police say died at the hands of her stepfather.

Last month, police arrested Terry Abbas for the 14-year-old's death. Police say he killed her and buried her body in the family's backyard.

On Tuesday, two East Dubuque business owners who dedicated a memorial bench to East Dubuque High School.That's where Chyenne was a student. Teachers held a dedication ceremony to remember the young girl. Students and teachers joined members of the Kircher family to honor her memory.

"It's hard to talk about, but my granddaughter would have loved it," Gary Kircher, Chyenne's grandfather said.

Terry Abbas is charged with three counts of murder in this case.
He also faces sexual abuse charges.
