Conlin May Join US Senate Race in Iowa

By Becky Ogann

DES MOINES (AP) - Democrat Roxanne Conlin says she's considering running for the U.S. Senate in 2010 against Republican Sen. Charles Grassley.

The Des Moines Register says in a copyright story on Friday that the longtime Des Moines lawyer says she's disappointed in Grassley. Conlin, who ran for governor in 1982 but lost, also says she has a renewed desire to serve in public office.

Conlin says she is "more likely than not" running, but she needs to iron out some details before making a final decision, probably by next month.

Conlin is the former president of the nation's trial lawyer association and one of the lead attorneys in a class-action lawsuit against Microsoft in 2007.

Two other Democrats - former state legislators Bob Krause and Tom Fiegen - have announced they'll seek their party's nomination.
