Culver Climbs Aboard Train for Another Iowa Trip

By Becky Ogann

DES MOINES (AP) - Gov. Chet Culver will see the state by train again as he promotes investment in Iowa's rail system.

State transportation officials and rail advocates will join Culver on the trip Tuesday to Nevada, Iowa Falls, Mason City and Manly. Union Pacific and Iowa Northern railways are offering help on the trip.

Culver has made similar trips across parts of eastern and western Iowa.

The governor has pushed for spending to improve Iowa's rail network and has been a strong supporter of creating new passenger lines from Chicago to Iowa City and Dubuque.
