CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Planned Parenthood is further consolidating its organizations, this time joining together affiliates from four states.
On Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, the organizations announced that the consolidation of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and Planned Parenthood of Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma was completed, creating a regional affiliate across Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
The combined organizations are now operating under the name Planned Parenthood of the Heartland.
“Working together as one affiliate, we can increase access to quality reproductive health care services across the four-state region,” Planned Parenthood of the Heartland President and CEO Jill June said in a statement.
The consolidation will provide expanded services for all states, including pediatric care, male cancer screenings, HPV vaccinations, prenatal care, age-appropriate education programming and more.
“We can provide more services to the women, men and families who rely on us for care, at a cost everyone can afford,” June added.
Last year, several affiliates in Iowa, including offices in Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, consolidated with Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, creating just one organization in the state.
A spokeswoman said no further consolidations are planned at this time.
June will continue in her role as president and CEO for the consolidated Planned Parenthood of the Heartland.
The organization will operate a total of 34 health centers and three Education Resource Centers throughout Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma.
