Where Can I Get the H1N1 Vaccine?

By Becky Ogann

LINN COUNTY - Many of you called us, asking where can you can get the H1N1 vaccine. Turns out, that's a good question.

We asked Linn County Public Health. They said right now only those at the highest risk of suffering complications from the flu are getting them. Mass vaccinations clinics won't happen for a while because there just isn't enough H1N1 vaccine.

"We are distributing the vaccine out to the medical community to have them immunize the high risk categories," said Curtis Dickson, Director Linn County Public Health.

Those high risk groups include, pregnant women, health care workers, children with chronic illnesses and those who care for babies. (full details on high risk groups)

Many doctor's offices are asking people to first check their office's website, if they have one, and then calling to see if there's any H1N1 vaccine available.

There is a vaccine for both H1N1 and seasonal influenza. The seasonal influenza vaccine will not protect you from H1N1, and vice versa.

Find your county public health office.
