Free Walk-in H1N1 Clinic Today at Hawkeye Downs

Cedar Rapids - Linn County Public Health will be holding a free walk-in H1N1 vaccine clinic Thurs. Dec. 3 from 1 – 4:00 p.m.at Hawkeye Downs, 4400 6th St SW. Individuals coming to this clinic will not have to wait outside as there is ample room inside to accommodate everyone who wants to receive an H1N1 vaccination. You will not need an appointment for this clinic.
Individuals in the following five categories qualify for the free H1N1 walk-in vaccination clinic;
• pregnant women
• household contacts and caregivers, including daycare providers, for children younger than 6 months of age
• health care and emergency medical services personnel
• all people from 6 months through 24 years of age
• persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
“I encourage everyone in the high risk categories to come to this clinic to receive their H1N1 vaccination” says Curtis Dickson, Director Linn County Public Health. “We want to vaccinate as many qualified individuals as we can prior to the holiday travel season”.
LCPH held a scheduled H1N1 clinic at Hawkeye Downs Dec. 1 and vaccinated 1,253 individuals. There are 720 scheduled appointments for the 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. scheduled clinic on Thursday Dec. 3. All of these scheduled times are full.
