Three Eastern Iowa Adults Die From H1N1, 19 Total
DES MOINES - Three more people have died from H1N1 flu. The victims are identified as two adults in Linn County and an adult in Black Hawk County. One individual from Black Hawk County and one of the Linn County individuals had risk factors that increased the chance of complications from the H1N1 virus.
While most adults will recover from the H1N1 virus without complications, there are signs which indicate you should seek medical attention right away. These include difficulty breathing; having purple or blue discoloration of the lips; vomiting and being unable to keep any liquids down; feeling dizzy when standing; or being unable to urinate. To date, IDPH has reported 19 confirmed H1N1 deaths in Iowa, including 18 adults and one child, and more than 500 Iowans have been hospitalized. For more information about H1N1 influenza, visit www.idph.state.ia.us/h1n1 or call the toll-free Influenza Hotline at 1-800-447-1985. More Good Stuff |
