40% of Parents Do Not Plan to get Kids H1N1 Vaccine

CEDAR RAPIDS - A new poll finds that while Americans have become increasingly alarmed about H1N1 flu, almost half are wary of getting their families vaccinated against the disease.

The survey shows that nearly 4 in 10 parents do not plan to have their children inoculated against H1N1. Most parents who will say they have doubts about its safety.

"I just feel that this vaccine was developed very quickly//and I am just not comfortable with that," said Ellen Calamari, parent.

But scientists say H1N1 flu went through the same tests as the annual flu shot. The only thing that was done quickly was the government fast tracked its role to get production started.

Those who do want the vaccine are having a very difficult time finding it. Only 13 million doses are available right now.

By November 50-million doses of the vaccine are supposed to be ready and 150-million in December.
