ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (AP) - Classes will be canceled at Ashwaubenon High School on Thursday and Friday due to an unusually high number of student absences.
School officials say flu like symptoms have caused absences to steadily increase, reaching 41 percent Wednesday. All athletic events will be canceled Thursday and Friday, and the high school will forfeit its varsity football and boys' soccer games, and its cross country meets.
All other Ashwaubenon schools will remain open as usual Thursday and Friday.
The Medford Area School District, as well as the River Valley Middle School in Spring Green, canceled classes Tuesday and will remain closed through Friday due to high absences.
Last week, the Wisconsin Dells School District canceled classes for three days due to the H1N1 flu.
