May 13, 2008: Photographer Jonathon Gregg and I are heading back to Postville today. Yesterday I spent about 14 hours there. It's a town I've always wanted to visit, I guess I finally got that chance. Today I'm heading back there to talk about the schools and how the town is recovering and handling Monday's raid.
The raid on Monday was impressive, if you consider the logistics needed to bring in nearly a dozen buses and dozens more federal agents and the state patrol.
Every time I speak to someone out there, they seem to ask my opinion on the situation, sometimes they don't ask it directly. I feel bad for what happened to the people arrested, but I also understand the I-C-E had to uphold the law. Sometimes it's hard to tell that to people. It always seems some people want me to side with them, on one side or the other. I can't do that.
Watch tonight at 10 for the latest from the raid.

Sharon, you're an idiot. Does pressing 1 for English really inconvenience you that much? No. You're a bigot, plain and simple. Heres a news flash for you, America sucks. Yep, I said it. Who cares if they're "American citizens" or not. When a law is stupid, you change it. And when conservative nut-jobs like you won't let us change it, you ignore it. Reality called, they want their naivety back!

If you are a citizen and break the law you go to jail! Seems if you aren't a citizen you can waive YOUR national flag yet call for your YOUR U.S constitutional rights! Seems to me you need to be a citizen to exercize those rights. Want to be here- fine do it legally. What ever happened to work visas?I hear about long waits for immigration, but which country is holding things up? No previous immigrents have demanded WE change life for them. I don't want to dial 1 for English! What about MY rights.

I feel discouraged as a citizen, when most of us break the law we suffer the consequences. So why should any illegal immigrant be given privy to do just that. people are having their identities stolen causing severe distress upon persons, not to mention the time and frustraion one must go thru to clear up the injustice.America take care of home first.

Why aren't you interviewing the city, mayor, council members, legal citizens on the violations of Agriprocessors? Then your viewers would be informed of the other side of this story. I feel that its not an immigrant story, but an employers bad choices and ethics and these happenings are the spin-offs of those decisions being propelled onto the people you are trying to inform.
