The notepad really sums it up. Around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday the 23rd, the Cedar Rapids Treasury department called me and said they got the checks.
I've been following a story about the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cedar Rapids for about a week now. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you should look it up on our site. It really is quite interesting. Basically the hotel owed the city more than $65,000. Last week the city sent a letter to the owners of the hotel, Kronos Hotels.
Last week a regional manager for Kronos told me the check to the city was in the mail.
Since we ran that story, we had a lot of comments on our website saying they questioned if that money would ever arrive.
Today the checks arrived and the city tells me they are already in the bank.
Later today I'm supposed to have a conference call with the owners of the hotel chain. I'll let you know what comes out of that conversation. And be sure to watch tonight at 10 (Wednesday), we'll have a little more on the situation.
If anything else breaks, I'll have it here at "This JustIN."

Ok, now will they give their employees decent benefits and pay? Statisfied employees make great representatives and its the fair thing to do.

I think without your 1st news article this payment of debt owed would not have been paid so quickly or possibly not at all. Cedar Rapids owes you a 'Thank You' for all the work you put into this.
