JO DAVIESS, COUNTY, Illinois - Seven students were transported to nearby hospitals after a Scales Mound, Illinois school bus drove into a ditch Tuesday morning.
According to a press release from the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's office Alois Bilgri, 75, of Scales Mound, lost control of the bus after traveling over a snow slush covered area on West Stagecoach Trail around 7:43 a.m. The location was less than a mile northeast of West Miller Ridge Road, deputies said.
19 Scales Mound students were aboard the bus at the time of the incident. Four students were transported to Midwest Medical Center in Galena, Illinois by ambulance, while another two were taken via private vehicle. One student was transported by ambulance to Mercy Health Center in Dubuque.
Bilgri was cited for improper lane usage. The accident remains under investigation.
