Boater Killed in Dubuque Crash Identified

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has identified the man killed when two boats collided on the Mississippi River in Dubuque Thursday.

James Sutton, 45, of Maquoketa died in the crash just after 9:00 pm Thursday in the Schmitt Harbor. The Iowa DNR says Sutton's boat was sitting still when another boat slammed into it, launching over the top of Sutton's boat. Lori Fey, 47, of Maquoketa was also in Sutton's boat and was not hurt.

The driver of the other boat was Kent Hoffman, 38, of Galena, Ill.

The incident is being investigated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Dubuque Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
