Eastern Iowa Marine Dies from Injuries Caused by Bomb in Afghanistan

PRESTON, Iowa — A Marine who graduated from an eastern Iowa high school has died after being wounded in Afghanistan.

Preston High School principal Dave Miller told KCRG.com that the Marine, Zach Reiff, died Monday from injuries suffered in an IED blast.

According to the Associated Press, Miller told the Dubuque Telegraph Herald that Reiff's family was notified Friday of the explosion. Miller says Reiff's parents flew to Germany on Saturday to see their son at a hospital there.

Miller didn't have other information about what happened to Zach Reiff.

Miller says Zach Reiff had been active in sports at the high school, graduating in 2007.
