Dubuque Teacher Receives National Honor

DUBUQUE, Iowa - A huge national honor is going to a Dubuque middle school teacher.

Karla Digmann is an eighth grade math teacher at George Washington Middle School, and she’s a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

Digmann is one of 97 people who will receive the award at a ceremony in Washington, DC on June 26th.

A panel of scientists, mathematicians, and educators selected the winners.

“It’s a huge honor. It’s not just me it’s all the people that have ever helped me to become the teacher I am.," the winner, Karla Digmann, said.

The winners will also visit with members of Congress and the President's Administration.
