Man Accused of Killing Toddler Asks Judge for Bond Reduction

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Nicholas Reed's bond is set for more than $1 million. He's asking that be reduced to $100,000.

In court on Wednesday members of Reed's family told the judge why they believe Reed is not a flight risk. They describe Reed as a gentle father to his own three children. Reed's attorney suggested the boy's parents may be responsible for his death.

Reed is accused of killing his girlfriend's two-year-old son, Bentley Randall. Reed's daughter told police she heard what sounded like the child's head hitting the bathtub when Reed and the toddler were locked in the bathroom together.

Reed's trial is set for October.
