FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) - A Fort Dodge police lieutenant has been arrested, accused of burglary.

Police Chief Tim Carmody says in a news release that Lt. David Beshey was taken into custody on Tuesday, after an investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

The state investigators were called in after a Fort Dodge resident made the burglary allegation against Beshey on Monday morning.

Carmody didn't provide specifics about the allegation.

Fort Dodge Police Lt. Dennis Mernka said Wednesday that Beshey remained in Webster County Jail, pending $50,000 bail.

Online court records don't list the name of Beshey's attorney.
