Waterloo Woman Charged With Welfare Fraud
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A 35-year-old Waterloo woman has been charged with fraud in obtaining food and other public assistance.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that Angela Marvets faces three felony counts of fraud. Court records say Marvets obtained food, medical and other aid after she told state officials that the father of her children wasn't living with her.
The Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals later determined the man had been living with her while she was receiving aid from February 2004 until June 2010.
Court records say the aid fraud totaled more than $44,000.
A phone listed for Marvets wasn't in service on Monday. Online court records don't list the name of her attorney.
