Waterloo Man Charged in Bremer County Fatal Crash

BREMER COUNTY, Iowa - A Waterloo man has been charged with vehicular homicide for his role in a July crash.
According to a press release from the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a head-on collision on July 24 in the 2400 block of Highway 218. Verle D. Wygle, 59, was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles involved in the crash.
Police said the crash occurred when Wygle traveled northbound in the southbound lanes between Janesville and Waverly.
As a result of an investigation involving the sheriff’s office and the Iowa State Patrol, Wygle was charged with vehicular homicide, a class B felony. Wygle had his first appearance in front of a magistrate Tuesday morning and was released with pretrial supervision.
A class B felony is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
